翻译越做越感觉困难！

做了多年的翻译，又做了多年的翻译公司，感觉是越来越胆小。不是担心没有生意，而是做起来战战兢兢。

今天一个老客户发了个邮件给我：

I see a typo in translation portion on page 3. "1943" I think it should be "1934".  Simple thing, and it happens, but this worries me.  Is there a second set of eyes reviewing this? especially the foreign translation parts since I can´t translate or edit.

This sloppiness jeopardizes our very relationship with our client, and is unacceptable.  Please edit and proof carefully this file, promise that ALL your work to us is carefully edited and proofed, and only invoice us for ½ the amount for this project.

这是一份雇佣合同，英文到繁体中文，我们请了台湾的一位优秀译员翻译，公司内部也做了校对，其中一处讲到1934年的一个法律条文，译员将年份写成了1943年！不懂中文的老外一下子就发现了这个数字上的差异，当然他也就很有理由怀疑整篇译文的可靠性了。我将译文重头到尾仔细看了一遍，发现译文非常漂亮，术语专业，理解正确，中文表达流畅，可是偏偏出现了这样一个问题。客户要求要扣50%的翻译费！没理由，但要怎么跟客户解释呢？

当然这是流程、方法和质量控制的问题，但如果不能根绝这种问题，接单和交稿时能不战战兢兢吗？
